The smaller stalls, measuring up to 50 square feet, is in addition to the 900 bigger stalls, measuring between 300 to 2,000 square feet, that will set up around the fair venue in Salt Lake’s central park. Last year, only around 40 such smaller stalls were available.
This year the fair runs January 18-31, an earlier start than usual.
Last year the fair pulled in 2.6 million visitors that spent the USD equivalent of $4 million (Rs 24 crore).
2023 concluded with Kolkata as the fourth largest book fair in the world after Bangladesh (6 million at the Ekushey Boi Mela), Spain (3 million at the Madrid event) and Algeria (2.7 million).
