Wattpad Webtoon signs deals with PRH US, Spain’s Zeta Studios and Australia’s Screen Queensland

Wattpad Webtoon signs deals with PRH US, Spain’s Zeta Studios and Australia’s Screen Queensland

Wattpad Webtoon will support three Queensland-based screenwriters or teams to develop film and series projects arising from Wattpad Webtoon content.

The deal between Wattpad Webtoon Book Group (Wattpad Books, W by Wattpad Books, Frayed Pages x Wattpad Books, and Webtoon Unscrolled) and Penguin Random House Publisher Services will kick off in September.

The deal comes hard on the news that Wattpad Webtoon, part of South Korea’s Naver, has “partnered with Australian state screen agency Screen Queensland for a screenplay adaptation initiative.”

Said to be an extension of a 2020 agreement, Wattpad Webtoon will support three Queensland-based screenwriters or teams to develop film and series projects arising from Wattpad Webtoon content.

And Zeta Studios has signed a “first-look” deal with Wattpad Webtoon for Spanish-language content for the Ibero-American market.
