India – 13th Dibrugarh Book Fair underway

Kolkata, which will be back in 2024 as early as January 18, was the fifth largest book fair in the word this year, pulling in 2.6 million visitors.

As a seasoned observer of these things, I think I’m on safe ground in saying India has more book fairs than any other country.

The 13th edition of the Dibrugarh Book Fair is a case in point – just one among countless book fairs and festivals big enough to make the national headlines while not quite in the mega-league of the million and two million visitor events that happen in this vast country.

Kolkata, which will be back in 2024 as early as January 18, was the fifth largest book fair in the word this year, pulling in 2.6 million visitors.

No numbers yet for the Dibrugarh fair, but its a 12-day event with over 200 publishing houses participating, thanks to the All Assam Book Publishers and Sellers Association.
