The France launch comes a week after the launch in KoboPlus in Italy, and with it Kobo’s unlimited subscription market count rises to 8, with the option now available in Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and France.

It’s been a busy November for Kobo’s unlimited subscription service Kobo Plus, with a simultaneous launch in Australia and New Zealand quickly followed by a launch in Italy, and now a launch in France.

Not much detail I can offer on the French launch at this time because when I click through to KoboPlus France I get no further, but that may well be my slow internet here in West Africa. No official announcement yet on the Kobo blog, but a scan of the French trade journals shows Actualitte reporting 50,000 titles in French among the 500,000 titles in total in the Plus catalogue.

The France launch has been a while coming – this from TNPS in 2020:

Kobo continues its partnership with Fnac France to deliver the Kobo Plus service to this nation of 60.4 million internet users.
