The Oceanos 2018 Portuguese Language Literature Awards semi-finalists were announced this past week, but it’s not a full representation of the Portuguese-speaking world, with semi-finalist only from from Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
The Oceanos finalists will be announced late October, but the semi-finalist line up. for the first time since the award launched in 2013. has three authors born in countries where Portuguese is not the official or commonly used language or as a way of expression. Those are Romanian writer Golgona Anghel and Spanish Alfonso Pexegueiro, both published in Portugal, and the Swiss Prisca Agustoni, published in Brazil.
Sadly no authors from Angola, Guinea-Bissau or São Tomé and Príncipe made the semi-finals.
